Because of advances in surgical instrumentation and imaging devices, the incisions are considerably smaller than with traditional or open surgical techniques.
Oesophagus and Stomach
The oesophagus and stomach are part of the upper gastrointestinal (GI) tract, which is part of the digestive system. The digestive system helps the body break down food and turn it into energy.
Liver, Gallbladder and Pancreas
The gallbladder sits under the liver, along with parts of the pancreas and intestines. The liver and these organs work together to digest, absorb, and process food. The liver's main job is to filter the blood coming from the digestive tract, before passing it to the rest of the body.
